(New Trip)

The owners of this private nature preserve maintain it largely in its natural state but have carved trails through the property and actively attract birds and wildlife with a lot of native species and heirloom plants and by providing a substantial amount of feed.  Sunflower seeds and cracked corn is distributed daily among a dozen different feeding stations near the house, and a dozen more near the river.  Suet feeders and 15+ hummingbird feeders are also maintained.   The owners’ use about 75 pounds of black oil sunflower seed and cracked corn and 2 to 5 pounds of sugar each week.

They have been maintaining a nest box trail on our property since 1999 and currently have 25 nest boxes. Because of our land's versatile terrain, our nest boxes attract a variety of birds and animals. Many of the nest boxes are in the forested area. To date bluebirds, chickadees, tufted titmice, Carolina wrens, Prothonotary warblers, great crested flycatchers, wood ducks, screech owls, and flying squirrels have used the boxes.
